1986 World Series re-enacted in RBI Baseball

If you're not a fan of baseball and old skool NES baseball games, skip to the next post. Furthermore, if the name Bill Buckner makes your stomach turn (we're looking at you Red Sox Nation) better skip as well.
While trying to win a You Tube video contest, Conor of San Diego Serenade put the above piece of video, baseball, and gaming art together. He writes: "I decided that I wanted to enter this YouTube Cybersmack contest and win $25,000 for creating the best internet viral video, so I decided to re-enact Game Six of the 1986 World Series in RBI Baseball, my favorite video game of all time... So this took a long time, and I heard more of the RBI theme music in those hours than a man ever should."

Umm.. this is pretty much the coolest thing I have seen in a long time. Being a Sox Hater and a Yankee fan.. and a fan of the classic 8bit baseball games. This just "Hit Home" for me.. No pun. haha So awesome.

hahahahahah, that was genius. Perfectly done, if only people would do more stuff like this. It almost seems like re-enacting actual events in 8-bit some how makes it funnier.

All i can say is WOW. One of my best childhood memories just got brought back to life. I watched that with a huge smile. This guy deserves to win regardless if he's over the 3 minute time limit or not.

Wow..talk about bringing back a couple childhood memories! I remember listening to that broadcast in my dad's car..."Gets by Buckner!" Loved me some RBI Baseball on NES, too. Very well done!

Buckner has been forgiven. 2004 did a lot to assuage those emotions. Just take a look at last year's ALDS where 2B Tony Graffanino had a similar error, and was given a nice standing O the next day at Fenway.
Nonetheless this is a pretty amusing video! Now how bout a reenactment of the last inning of the 04 World Series, just to keep it fair and ballanced?
Hopefully the Devil Rays can maintain their lead over Brokeback Damon and the rest of the yankees for a while longer.

Amazing. As a die hard Mets fan, I could watch this clip backwards and forwards for hours. Heck, they should show this on the Jumbotron at Shea!
If the theme song grated on the guys nerves so much, couldn't he have just played the game on mute? There's probably some equally annoying audio clues he had to listen for. I was always a Bases Loaded guy myself.

Great job on the vid! My Cable is gone for a week, and has been out for 2, so I'll take my baseball anyway I can! :D
About Graf's "similar" error, the Sox had plenty of innings to make up for it, but just couldn't do it, so I just see it as an error thats not really comparable to Buckner's.

oh right, this just happens to come up on Red Sox opening day. Well, look at your team Yankee fans, you are at the bottom with 2-4. wow thats an impressive start. You lost twice as many games as you've won.

Yeah, nice job on the vid. I remember watching this live when I was a kid, and it was still the most amazing thing I've ever seen in sports - it's hard to even explain to people now what it was like. I mean one thing people forget is that this was the bottom of the 10th - it was tied after 9, and the Sox scored twice in the top of the 10th. So the crowd was already totally taken out of it, then when it got down to 2 outs and 2 strikes (like three separate times), I mean nobody thought the Mets had a chance. As cool as it is, RBI Baseball can't quite capture the real drama of that night :)
But watching this vid, I can still picture all those moments as they really happened.
One thing people also forget is that there was a game 7 after this, and the Mets were also down 6-3 in that game! Two amazing comebacks in a row and two crushing defeats for the Red Sox. The second one was a little more traditional, though (Ray Knight homered in game 7, I think in the 7th inning).

Minor correction: my memory was a little off on game 7 - the Mets were down 3-0, and won 6-3. I did remember Knights homer correctly, though.

#8 - Calm down there chowder-head, the season is 162 games. The Yanks started off a lot worse last season and they finished in first place.
#4 - Nice, you've already resorted to gay jokes about a player who did sooo much for you to win the 2004 WS. Not too surprising coming from a Red Sox fan I suppose. And by the way, the D-rays are annoying, but they finished in last place and the will this year as well. Noone had a lead over the Yanks in the reg season.

I was always a Bases Loaded guy too, but this is an amazing video. A lot of hours of work put into this one...
And yeah, every (non-Yankee) fan hates Damon now. Being such a critical part of the "stick-it-to-the-Yankees" team and then completely selling out. I definitely have no respect for him anymore (and every other player that goes to the Yanks to get $40 million instead of $30)... MLB needs a salary cap...

Wow. Just wow. Even as a life long diehard Sox fan, who was 6 in 1986 and still remembers that late night moment all too well (it was on a black & white TV for the record, I was in my parents room while they were downstairs watching it), I simply have to tip my hat to the guy who made this. RBI is still my all time favorite baseball game.
I think my favorite part of the vid has to be when they named Marty Barrett player of the game and had the pixelated guy as the picture... Priceless!
I forgave Buckner back in the late 80's though for what its worth. (Though I still blame McNamara for a dozen or so reasons.) I was at the game when he hit an inside the park homerun. Granted, the right fielder fell into the stands, but it was still amazing. Johnny Damon on the other hand will never be forgiven. Though I obviously respect what he did for the team in his years here, he is without a doubt now the poster boy for everything that is wrong with baseball.

An RBI rendition of one of the greatest games in baseball history, Love it!
I love both teams, I happen to be a Bostonian that favors the way the National League plays the game, so that was, in my heart of hearts, the greatest World Series ever. Besides, everyone in these parts agress that if not 1986, 2004 would not have been so sweet!

Good call except you're way wrong. Baltimore was in first for a large portion of the beginning of last season and Sox held 1st place for a while as well. Yanks and Red Sox had identical records after the final regular season game. Please play again.
