LucasArts ready to thrill in new park sim
This summer, Frontier Developments and LucasArts will attempt to put the thrill back into theme park simulations with Thrillville -- an amalgam of park building, cart racing, miniature golf, and even first-person shooting contests (against robots, not people). The main objective in Thrillville is to build your park using one of 15 themes, and then enjoy it with your fellow patrons. Micromanagement is supposedly minimized in the game, but there are basic park administration issues that will need to be addressed such as security, sanitation, and fair pricing. The last gen graphics look anything but thrilling, but if the developer's attempt to combine multiple family-friendly genres results in strong gameplay, they could have a hit for all ages. Thrillville will be available on Xbox, PS2, and PSP.

I have to question why these console choices keep popping up even in this day and age. Why oh why is it on the PSP and not the Gamecube? It could be. I don't see any technical or demographic reason why it isn't. There are more Gamecube owners than PSP owners. In fact, why isn't this on the PC? It's on the Xbox, which is pretty much a technical subset. Given the description, I would say from an interface standpoint this game even seems more suited to the DS than the PSP. Again, there are apparently more DS owners than PSP owners. And again I see no demagraphic reason for a non-appearance for what should be "family friendly".
This reminds me of the fact that Nokia have recieved more 3D tomb raider games than Nintendo has. I just don't get what some of these executive planners are thinking. Lucasarts seem to be rather guilty of some non-sensical decission making in recent years, so I'm not suprised.
Yes, I'm a bitter fanboy.
I'd say things would be looking up in the next generation, but then I remember how stupid some 3rd parties are, despite their talents.

Lucasarts just doesn't seem interested in the PC anymore. If they were, Battlefront II wouldn't have been the buggy pile of shit that it is.

Hmmm. Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 was so bad they had to find a new publisher? Makes me wonder if Atari dropped Frontier or vice versa.

The only exciting thing about this is it's Lucasarts and it's not Star Wars...
