The confirmed Wii launch lineup

Nintendo gaming site Nwizard has put together a handy list of titles for Nintendo's Wii that are confirmed to be there at launch (whenever that is). So far, the total is set at 27, but of course that number can grow as time gets closer to the inevitable day the Wii comes to stores.
While there certainly looks to be a nice, varied list of games there at launch, there are also a few titles on the way that are worth waiting for -- Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros. Brawl are just a couple.
Check after the break for the full list.

another expensive fall in the making =/ .....ughhh my addiction to gaming continues....
Brad Lee @ Aug 13th 2006 6:04PM
Rayman Raving Rabbids, Excite Truck, and Wii Sports are the games I'd get if I somehow manage to nab one of these consoles at launch. I'm still skeptical about Red Steel. And call me crazy, but I was never much into Metroid or Zelda for that matter.
Twenty-seven at launch is pretty commendable. But are we talking DAY of launch, or launch 'window' here?
Zelda Master @ Aug 13th 2006 6:05PM
Looks like there is something for everybody. I'll be picking up Metroid Prime 3 and Rayman 4. I'll get Zelda TP for GC.
Simon @ Aug 13th 2006 6:06PM
Metroid? Zelda? Rayman? Red Steel? Wii Sports? Call of Duty? SO MANY CHOICES. This has to be one of the most impressive lineups I've seen for a console launch.
daniel @ Aug 13th 2006 6:17PM
i thought sonic wildfire was a launch game i cant wait for that game ive really started to get into sonic since i got sonic rush
Guess Who @ Aug 13th 2006 6:26PM
Daniel: Wild Fire is tentatively "March 2007".
Melophonist @ Aug 13th 2006 6:28PM
So then, do we have an estimate of just how long SSBB, Sonic Wildfire, Super Mario Galaxy, and such will come out?
Sour @ Aug 13th 2006 6:30PM
Call of Duty 3 on Wii? Let me see it... I hope Super Mario will be at first line
GSI @ Aug 13th 2006 6:31PM
I kinda hope that Wii Sports is a pack-in title simply b/c it is so basic (graphically.) If it isn't a pack-in title, I hope it is _really_ cheap, like maybe $15-20.
FSFunky @ Aug 13th 2006 6:35PM
No Warioware :(
Eric Von Shpeel @ Aug 13th 2006 6:36PM
27 is alot! If you dont count the multi format games that look alot better on other consoles (Far Cry, CoD3, Need for Speed, etc) then its still a decent line up. Added to the fact it plays all GC games out the box and it certainly shows just how pathetic the 360 launch was.
tactics @ Aug 13th 2006 6:37PM
this is the most amazing launch ever... some of these games would have *never* interested me in previous generations, but with wii's innovative new controller, i'm interested in literally every game!
"that which was old will become new again"
they promised us a revolution.
"Wii keep our promise."

Sean DL @ Aug 13th 2006 6:40PM
Wii Sports will be 20-30 bucks. It lines up in the same line that Gamecube games line up in that were under 40.
I'm surprize no one said anything about Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers being a a launch...I know many didn't liek the first one, but we are talking Final Fantasy here, and nither Microsoft or Sony had/will have a FF game at launch...
William @ Aug 13th 2006 6:40PM
Wow that is so insane! Almost all of those games look like good games: Farcry, Metroid, Metal Slug, Zelda, Final Fantasy, Call of Duty. THIS LAUNCH IS GOING TO BE SO SOOOO GOOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!
GSI @ Aug 13th 2006 6:43PM
"this is the most amazing launch ever"
Be careful with that statement b/c you'll sound like Peter Moore if it doesn't come true. I swear, to be a head PR person they must be trying to find someone who can shovel BS around.
tactics @ Aug 13th 2006 6:47PM
you're right GSI. i should say "this is shaping up to be the best launch ever" instead. it's really not over until the fat lady sings.
either way, i'm interested in literally every game. i even want to see what rayman plays like, even though i've never had any interest in a rayman title to date; not even rayman ds...
i have a feeling i'm gonna be spending a lot of money on games this holiday season :/

A launch like that will attack my Nintendo weakpoint and inflict massive damage damage on my wallet
eM @ Aug 13th 2006 6:55PM
I'm still holding out hope that Wii Sports is a pack-in. Of course, it'd be much better multiplayer, so the Big N would have to pack in two controllers as well, making the whole deal a little less likely at the estimated pricepoint.
Zyph @ Aug 13th 2006 6:55PM
Blast, I still need to finish Metroid Prime 2: Echos.
p-diddy @ Aug 13th 2006 6:57PM
The number of titles could grow?? Please. My experience is that the number of launch titles tend to shrink because the developers just will not be able to release a game _that_day_ because they are still hammering out bugs.
My expectation: the Wii will launch with 14-18 games. Still something for everyone, but I doubt all 27 will show their face when the time comes.

Tracked @ Aug 13th 2006 6:57PM
OMG Nintendo just financially crippled me :( Why did they have to go and make such an intresting game console with amazing launch titles? WHY? Couldn't you go crappy? Now i have to go and get a job. And get some sleeping bags. I WILL BE THE FIRST TO GET WII IN WEST LONDON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111oneoneone
Kevout @ Aug 13th 2006 6:58PM
I could have sworn WarioWare was a launch title,, you'd think it would be easy enough to publish in a couple of months,,
Wii Fanatic @ Aug 13th 2006 6:58PM
Man that is one of the most impressive launch line up i have ever seen. i mean dbz, LoZ TP, red steel, rayman, call of duty, metroid, all of those suckerz!! this just adds to the anticipation for the Wii!!!!
subnet6 @ Aug 13th 2006 7:02PM
This is certainly looking to be a solid launch lineup whether is is launch "day" or launch "window" remains to be seen. On a side note, anybody got a good link to a CONFIRMED PS3 launch lineup? I haven't seen one lately.
Rak @ Aug 13th 2006 7:04PM
WoW so many good games, ima getting one on day 1. Going to buy CoD3, Zelda TP, Metroid. I predict Nintendo to Wiin.
Shadowstorm @ Aug 13th 2006 7:04PM
27 launch titles? That beats the 360's at 19, and PS3's at 10 (I think its 10, might be 12).
GSI @ Aug 13th 2006 7:05PM
"OMG Nintendo just financially crippled me"
You could always do what I'm going to do:
(1) Buy (3)-(4) PS3s with a credit card
(2) Keep (1) PS3 and sell the other (2) on eBay or to someone willing to pay twice the price
(3) Pay off what you owe on the credit card
(4) Use the balance of the cash to buy games/accessories for the PS3 and Wii.
...and if you're lucky you might have cash left over to pay off bills, apply towards other credit cards, etc.
georgel @ Aug 13th 2006 7:05PM
@ Eric Von Shpeel - the 360 lineup was not pathetic, you obviously dont have a 360 so how can you judge? project gotham 3 and nba 2k6 and call of duty 2 kept me busy until well into the new year. And you cant judge the wii lineup till you play it. one things for certain i havent met anyone who owns a 360 and isnt satisfied with it.
vidGuy @ Aug 13th 2006 7:10PM
I'll get LoZ:TP, Metroid Prime 3, and Wii Sports, plus what I can afford out of Call of Duty 3, Rayman Raving Rabbids, and Red Steel. Great launch. I'm still holding out for Wii Sports to be a pack-in; that'll give me some cash to pick up something else.
To clarify, these are rumored and/or confirmed to be launch day titles. Whether or not they get pushed back, they'll all release within the launch window, aka the first 3 months after the Wii launch.
Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros Brawl will be out in 2007. Nintendo may release one in the spring and holdout till Holidays 07 to release the other. Both will be huge sales boosters.
While some feel the 360 launch was just fine, I didn't find much to play in it. I've still only found 3 games worth a purchase (Condemned, Prey, and Dead Rising). Compare this to the 3 or 4 I'll own on Wii launch day, plus about a dozen more I'll get within the first 8 months. Different things for different folks, but the Wii is sure to have a lot of gamers satisfied.
Brad Lee @ Aug 13th 2006 7:10PM
"Added to the fact it plays all GC games out the box and it certainly shows just how pathetic the 360 launch was." by Eric Von Shpeel
It's so true! The 360 launch was pathetic! I got mine towards the end of January. I played DOA4, PDZ, and COD2 and said, "Okay, WTF is next?" And when you look at their launch in Japan, it is easy to see why it does so poorly over there. Every Party? Tetris Worlds? Puhleeze!
Then again, the 360 launch was no more pathetic than the GC launch. The GC wasn't even worth owning until Super Smash Brothers came out three months later.
I'm still amazed at the 27 games. Even if half of those get bumped back, that is still an impressive number, especially when compared to Nintendo's last gen launch lineup.
GSI @ Aug 13th 2006 7:12PM
@ Georgel:
The 360 launch titles might not have been "pathetic" since many of the titles I bought with my 360 in June were mostly launch titles.
BUT considering that the 360's main marketing spokesman (Peter Moore) said it would be "the greatest launch library in the history of games"...that was a pretty big claim, and it wasn't even close to that claim.
B33 @ Aug 13th 2006 7:19PM
Only 3 games that are really a must buy... A good majority of the list are ports or games that are not that interesting...
Pc @ Aug 13th 2006 7:19PM
Too bad this site is all about Nintendo.....Can somebody give me a link or tell me about a site similar to this about sony's playstation (not the actual official playstation site). please
Geist @ Aug 13th 2006 7:24PM
Please, people, let's not bring the fanboyism in here. Keep the 360 launch out of this.
That said, I am so screwed this fall. Between my wallet being destroyed and the amount of university work that's going to be neglected, I'm going to die.
But hey, I'll die happy.
Supra @ Aug 13th 2006 7:28PM
Looks good so far
electro^plankton @ Aug 13th 2006 7:36PM
I better start saving now. There's just too many games! I'll be so broke for the entire 2006-2007 years. I mean, with the Wii's lineup, and the PS3 - I dunno how I'm gonna do it. As bad as this sounds, I might have to slash my gift giving generosity this holiday season and may have to push my PS3 purchase back until Lair and FF13 are released.
Sigh . . .
potato @ Aug 13th 2006 7:39PM
Oh wow... I'm not much of a Mario/Zelda etc cartoony gamer, but with Red Steel, Far Cry, and COD3 on the list...
Looks like Nintendo is shrugging off a bit of the kiddie reputation they earned with the N64 and GC. Good for them!
Sinergy @ Aug 13th 2006 7:39PM
hey georgel, you obviously haven't met many japanese gamers :p
Spiza @ Aug 13th 2006 7:40PM
There have already been rumors that at least dragon quest and mp3 are going to get delayed. We know ubisoft is reworking some controls on Red Steel. However, Zelda is the strongest launch title since mario64.
GSI @ Aug 13th 2006 7:53PM
@ Potato:
You act as if there have never been more realistic games on the N64 and Cube. You should try doing your homework on the games available for both systems instead of looking so ignorant about it.
cap-n-crunch @ Aug 13th 2006 7:54PM
red steel or wii sports would be my pick since they were designned w/ the new controller in mind. zelda was in dev. for the gamecube forever before it annoced for the wii
caeonosphere @ Aug 13th 2006 8:04PM
I'm going to tell the truth here. The dirty, dirty truth.
I've never owned or considered buying a Nintendo console. Shameful, I know. I've flat missed out on great franchises like Mario, Zelda, and Metroid. But this holiday season, I'll be putting the money down on the N's box, and no other. Between the diverse and hyped launch and the fantastic price point (not to mention the innovation), it's really a no-brainer. Oh, Nintendo. I scoffed at your seemingly gimmicky DS, but I won't make the same mistake again.
hohoho @ Aug 13th 2006 8:11PM
can't help but thinking, how many were there before the last E3 console 'winning' pr war for nintendo? seems there might more last minute games joining the bandwagon, or ex-gc games being pumped to run on wii? Think i'd stay with anything with Nintendo logo stamped on, just like the ds.
CJC @ Aug 13th 2006 8:25PM
Oh boy: Action, Adventure, RPG, Fighting, Sports, Racing, and some others. Nintendo has just about every genre covered, don't they? And with the ability to play GCN games and the virtual console... it's downright impressive.
Eric Von Shpeel @ Aug 13th 2006 8:35PM
hey Georgel I have a 360 and am very dissapointed, so add me as your first. The launch was crap tacular and the best game was (still is) a PC port, and backwards compatability was as bad as a beta microsoft operating system.
Antonio @ Aug 13th 2006 8:47PM
THAT SUCKS THAT WARIOWARE: SMOOTH MOVES, SUPER MARIO GALAXY, AND SUPER SMASH BROS. BRAWL ARENT IN THE LIST!!! THOSE ARE GOING TO BE THE BEST MONEY MAKING GAMES!!! I WOULD PROBABLY BUY WII SPORTS, RED STEEL, EXCITE TRUCK, AND MAYBE THE LEDGEND OF ZELDA.
DMON @ Aug 13th 2006 8:55PM
@ brad lee
SSB:M came out less than 1 month after the cube launched, the same day as pikmin.
Ultimatallica @ Aug 13th 2006 9:08PM
Who actually confirmed these would be launch titles? I mean, there's still a good chance for delays, and as much as I want FFCC I just don't see it happening. We haven't even seen a screenshot, or hell, even a promotional teaser yet. That goes for a lot of the other games too. The only one that was ever 100% truly confirmed was Zelda, and as far as I'm concerned that's all most people need and so there's really no reason to get your hopes up for the others. Sorry, don't want to sound like an ass, but I'm not gonna believe anything like this until we have a date for the system itself.
corwin @ Aug 13th 2006 9:16PM
they forgot Halo.
Willo @ Aug 13th 2006 9:19PM
Hey caeonosphere - much as I love your sentiments, I call viral marketer. I mean, come on, next we'll have Daryl talking sense.
