First, our headline writer wants to apologize to any native Spanish speakers for the headline. That said, GameDaily BIZ reports that EA is going to release Madden NFL '08 en Espanol this holiday season, "a new version of the popular Madden 08 game for PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360 that's fully translated into Spanish." But it's not just a simple translation: They're replacing cover athlete Vince Young with Luis Castillo, defensive end for the San Diego Chargers and a native of the Dominican Republic; adding three exclusive music tracks from Spanish-language acts; and "Alvaro Martin, the first Spanish language announcer for ABC Sports' Monday Night Football, will voice the play-by-play broadcasts."
This isn't just EA looking to attract new players and boost its already healthy profit stream. The NFL has been reaching out to Spanish-speaking fans as well, dovetailing neatly with EA's latest Madden venture. If it proves successful, we imagine this won't be the last Spanish language sports release we see from the kids at EA.

"Madden NFL 08 en Español viene este año."
Just remove the word "que"
Fernando Rocker (NDF - Water Ring) @ Oct 15th 2007 11:11PM
Ah, and the "n" in "vienen"
Word of the street(IDF-Digital Ruler). @ Oct 15th 2007 11:15PM

Nice =) good to know people that can talk other language.
Word of the street(IDF-Digital Ruler). @ Oct 15th 2007 11:22PM
Fernando Rocker (NDF - Water Ring) @ Oct 15th 2007 11:28PM
4 languages? Ah that's cool...
Look:
"a proposito" means "on purpose"
"aproposito" is like a little theater play.
But really, the few lines that you wrote are excellent.
Felicidades!
Word of the street(IDF-Digital Ruler). @ Oct 15th 2007 11:40PM
Apenas estoy aprendiendo italiano y ni siquiera se decir donde esta el baño and my english sucks because I forgot almost everything I learned.
Sieged Eagle @ Oct 15th 2007 11:55PM

On-topic: Eh. Never been a Madden series fan, so think I'll pass...
Word of the street(IDF-Digital Ruler). @ Oct 15th 2007 11:47PM

Y de donde eres?
ThornedVenom @ Oct 16th 2007 2:37AM
Correction (I can't insert accents because of my keyboard, and I can't be arsed to use alt shortcuts):
Je suis le Pwnzord.
J'habite a Mordor.
Je vais diner en enfer.
Besides English, I can speak French and I've learnt a bit of Spanish (semi-fluent).
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Oct 16th 2007 3:36AM
No me gusta pinche futbĂłl Americano. EA deben chupar mis vergas.
SĂ, todas mis vergas.

It's a gimmick! ;)
DemonGSides @ Oct 15th 2007 11:32PM
Its a Trap!
Sean @ Oct 16th 2007 11:00AM
It's just a box.
Jouten @ Oct 15th 2007 11:19PM
Is this a release in the United States? Or is it a release in another country?
If it's a release in the US, I think they should be fair about it and release one in each language for every nationality that lives here!
I really don't see why it's so hard to just keep it with each country's primary language. I know of alot of people with different nationalities who are disgusted with how US Companies cater to hispanics in this country (legal or illegal) and make them ('other' immigrants) learn to speak and write english just to become US citizens.
At first I didn't really notice it so much, but now that this happened, I can kinda see what they are talking about now. It really is shameful. To be fair, it should be english in this country or make one for every language that is spoken in this country.
Just my two cents.
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Oct 15th 2007 11:32PM
When another language is used by a group of people large enough to make money off of, that will happen. As of the 2000 census, Spanish was the second most used language in the country with about 20 million speakers. 3rd place is "Chinese" because they don't differentiate between the mutually unintelligible Mandarin and Cantonese. Either way, grouping together both Chinese languages is still only 2 million speakers. Lower than that is French, then German, then Tagalog, then everything else. Let's say you're EA. In the country where this sport is popular, there are 20 million people speaking 1 language and 2 million people speaking 2 completely different languages (with a shared writing system). Who gets their own version?
Word of the street(IDF-Digital Ruler). @ Oct 16th 2007 12:06AM
Actually I don't see why a Multilanguage version Spanish and English isnât possible like in Europe, Sony games in Europe are Multilanguage anyone living there can tell you, I know because I bought some games back in Germany.
I donât what to say I donât play EA sports games like Fifa or Madden Iâm more into Burnout and Medal of Honor but Iâm glad to see this effort thinking about it I believe this is thanks to Microsoft, being a gamer since well the Nes era I have been playing games in English since I have memory with some exceptions like PokĂ©mon in Spanish or games in Spain Spanish and being honest sounds awful. Now that Microsoft enter the console business I have seen more games in Spanish like Gears of war and Halo 3,in fact Gears of war in Spanish sounds a lot better.
Now I have seen more games in Spanish for example my version of Legend of Zelda: Phantom hourglass is in Spanish, I donât know if itâs the Euro version or the Latin America version but is neat, maybe companies see a potential market in Latin America.
Fernando Rocker (NDF - Water Ring) @ Oct 16th 2007 12:11AM
I was going to say the same. I bought Phantom Hourglass in the past thuesday, and oh, what wwas my surprise? It was in spanish! I mean... in a tiny card they put several languages. At least they can include a full text translation since the beggining and not release a separate version.
By the way... Captain Linebeck, character of the year.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Oct 16th 2007 8:37AM
"As of the 2000 census, Spanish was the second most used language in the country with about 20 million speakers."
And why is it that 20 million immigrants from spanish speaking countries (95% of which I'm sure are from mexico and the caribean) can't speak english? When my grandfather immigrated here from Poland after WW2, he didn't speak a word of english, and neither did his wife or 3 children. And they made the effort to learn the english language and assimilate into the American culture. You don't see that happening very much anymore. What you see now is demands that things be done like in mexico, and that restaurants have their menu's in both languages.
Couple that with the Mexican president making statements along the lines of "Everywhere there are mexicans is Mexico" and insisting that Mexicans be loyal to mexico no matter where they live, you can understand why there's a healthy number of people in this country concerned about illegal immigration and the growth of spanish speaking communities.
Synner @ Oct 16th 2007 9:22AM
I second that, I'm in the Navy, and every time I go overseasI have to pick up some words in the language of our host nation. When I was in south america, no one put anything in english for me. Same thing with europe.
In fact, the reason I don't know how to speak italian or german is my grandparents refused to let the kids speak it around the house so they'd be forced to use english to be productive citizens.
Truepatriot @ Oct 16th 2007 10:44AM
@crono
i know a very successful polish man who doesnt know a word of english and has been in chicago some 30 years.same goes for chinese, filipino and hispanic parents in chicago that i know personally.you dont need to learn english if the place you work and live is the same neighborhood and they all speak your language.all the kids of these parents speak both languages though thats how i knew them XD.chicago rules if you move to your language pocket and dont know english.also chicago has polish, chinese, and spanish tv channels =)
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Oct 16th 2007 11:51AM
I know exactly what you're talking about Truepatriot, and it is for that reason that my grandparents settled in a polish community in chicago. But its one thing if its an isolated pocket, and the children are growing up being integrated into american society, but for much of the 20 million spanish speaking immigrants, their communities take up large parts of some cities (like miami), and they make no effort to assimilate into american culture or values.
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Oct 16th 2007 1:51PM
Correction: about 97% of the country speaks English at any given time, with the 3% that can't either being very very new immigrants or really old people who have their kids and grandkids translate for them while they learn. As they learn English they are replaced by new non-English speaking immigrants. The reason we see a lot of stuff in Spanish is because they are BILINGUAL. Speaking Spanish does not mean one can not speak English.
As long as everything that comes out of Hollywood and MTV is in English, people will be learning English. They WANT to assimilate, and they do.
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Oct 15th 2007 11:21PM
You don't have to be a native Spanish speaker to be horrified by sloppy Spanish! Nice try though.
Fernando Rocker (NDF - Water Ring) @ Oct 15th 2007 11:22PM
Now you look a little bit more like Waluigi. Nice =)
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Oct 15th 2007 11:42PM
I discovered post-it notes provided better contrast than my skin did, to really let my moneymaker shine. Now I just need to learn how to make a W out of the damn thing.
TavoElTico @ Oct 15th 2007 11:22PM
what for? american football isn't popular at all in spanish speaking countries... Exhibit A: me, i don't even know the rules of the damn game :P
maybe it will sell a little in mexico, there is a following of the sport in there.
phattie @ Oct 15th 2007 11:25PM
Didnt the failure of the NFL in Europre prove definitively that no one outside of English USA speaking gives a crap about American Football.
DemonGSides @ Oct 15th 2007 11:34PM
I know quite a few native spanish speaking people who will probably buy this, who also watch a -lot- of football.
Wrong once again...
Dave Silva @ Oct 15th 2007 11:37PM
You'd be surprised at how many "Latino" (god, I hate that stupid word) people follow the NFL.
We prefer real Football, though. It's much more fun than seeing lots of men grab at each other. :p
blooh (CDF - Nipple Ring) @ Oct 15th 2007 11:32PM
not on ps3? lol
Dave Silva @ Oct 15th 2007 11:39PM
Um, they already released versions of Fifa Soccer with multiple languages in the past. I remember seeing several versions with "El Perro" BermĂșdez (a famous Mexican Soccer narrator) in the game.
It's not that I consider this a bad thing - but is it really necessary to release ANOTHER version of the game? Hell, they should just add the damn language to the DVD, it's not like they don't have enough space for menu graphics and displays!
Blast Processing Megadrive @ Oct 15th 2007 11:45PM
So does this mean that two NFL players this year, instead of just one, will suffer the Madden Curse?
jimy @ Oct 16th 2007 10:17AM
Luis Castillo will just take steroids either way.
I can't believe this cheater has a job.
LAboy @ Oct 15th 2007 11:45PM
HA! Nobody gives a crap about American football outside the U.S.
ThornedVenom @ Oct 16th 2007 2:38AM
Rugby is the manlier sport!
Fernando Rocker (NDF - Water Ring) @ Oct 15th 2007 11:45PM
Lame
TavoElTico @ Oct 15th 2007 11:47PM
those "latinos" maybe have bought the english ver already, i doubt they'd buy it again.
and about that multiple language on fifa, well, thats difference, real football is a worldwide thing, from japan, to latin america
blooh (CDF - Nipple Ring) @ Oct 15th 2007 11:53PM
you mean soccer?
Sieged Eagle @ Oct 15th 2007 11:59PM
To Tavo: Actually, FIFA games are way more popular here in Mexico than Madden games actually are, and no matter how repetitive the FIFA games are, they still play them. Hell, I even have some friends that every month make a tournament with cash for the winner, but since I don't know how to play FIFA games (well, just a little) I don't participate in them.
The only soccer game that I like to play now and ever is ISSS for the SNES. Now that soccer game was fun to play!
Regulus Tera @ Oct 15th 2007 11:53PM
No sĂ© si sentir vergĂŒenza o perder mis esperanzas.
Fernando Rocker (NDF - Water Ring) @ Oct 15th 2007 11:56PM
